Inter ‘Positive’ Ahead Of ‘Really Difficult’ Champions League Second Leg vs Bayern Says Simone Inzaghi

Start

Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi says that his team is feeling ‘positive’ ahead of Wednesday’s ‘very difficult’ Champions League quarter-final second leg against Bayern.

Serie A table-toppers Inter Milan return to Champions League action for the second leg of their quarter-final tie against Bayern Munich at the San Siro on Wednesday, with kickoff scheduled for 3pm ET.

I Nerazzurri lead 2-1 after last week’s first leg, where Lautaro Martinez and Davide Frattesi scored the all-important goals for Simone Inzaghi’s side, while veteran Thomas Muller netted for the Bavarians.

Thanks to the result at the Allianz Arena, Inter are in clear control of the tie, and given their impressive record at the San Siro in 2025, one could argue that they already have one foot in the semi-finals.

If they are able to avoid losing by two goals or more, they’ll advance to the next round of the competition, keeping their European hopes alive, along with their dreams of winning an unlikely historic treble.

Inzaghi: Inter ‘Positive’ Ahead Of Champions League Clash vs Bayern

Speaking to the media in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, Inter boss Inzaghi said that his players are well aware of how difficult the second leg will be.

“We know that it will be really difficult tomorrow. We have to forget about the result of the first leg, but not the performance we put in in Munich.

“We had a great game, but we know that our opponents have a lot of quality. We will have to play a great game, running, aggressiveness, with the right attitude. It’s a quarter-final, the first half was played in Munich, and tomorrow we’ll have the second.”

He continued, touching on where his side could improve on from the first leg: “The boys were great. There were moments where we could have been more aggressive out of possession, and we could have been a bit meaner in possession once we’d got through the pressure.

“Like I said at the beginning, we can’t think about the result, just about the performance we gave. We don’t have to look at precedents, which have not always been positive when Inter host Bayern here in San Siro. The boys are positive, though, and the team knows that we will play against a great opponent. We respect them, but we can have a great game with the right attitude.

“It was definitely a very good first half, but when it comes to two-legged games, you have to be really cautious. We did very well in Munich, you have to be good to win there, so we are happy, but we know that it wasn’t the final, and we will have to play a great game against one of the strongest teams in the world, level with Real.”

In a major boost for I Nerazzuri, the visitors are dealing with countless injury concerns, with all of Alphonso Davies, Hiroki Ito, Jamal Musiala, Manuel Neuer and Dayot Upamecano unlikely to feature.
