Milan Star Rafael Leao Identified As Potential Vini Jr Replacement

Start

The latest Rafael Leao transfer news has revealed that the Milan winger has been identified as a possible replacement for Vini Jr.

Leao has previously been linked with European heavyweights Arsenal and Barcelona owing to his impressive performances at the San Siro.

Chelsea have also been touted as a potential suitor for Leao. However, the Portuguese international has hinted that he is happy at the club.

The Rossoneri faithful will be desperate to keep hold of their star player. Especially with a flurry of bids expected in the upcoming transfer window.

As it stands, Leao is valued at €75 million ($82.1 million) via TransferMarkt. However, Sergio Conciecao’s side will demand at least double that figure.

That in itself will likely deter any potential suitors who were hoping to negotiate a cut-price deal. Milan certainly holds the upper hand as the 25-year-old still has three years left on his current deal.

Is Rafael Leao Going To Real Madrid?

According to Fichajes, Rafael Leao has been identified as a potential replacement for Vini Jr. That is only if Real Madrid decide to sell the Brazilian superstar to a Saudi Pro League side.

As expected, the transfer fee for Vini Jr could well surpass the world record €220 million ($240 million) that PSG spent on Neymar back in 2017.

If that were to happen, Real would certainly be able to fork out for Leao. The Portugal player has plenty of Serie A and UEFA Champions League experience.

Leao also plays in the same position as Vini Jr so would make a suitable replacement at the Bernabeu. However, Real aren’t likely to want to cash in on one of the most prized assets.

This season, Leao has scored just ten times in 43 appearances across all competitions for Milan. In terms of assists, Leao has nine to his name.

Since moving to Italy from French club Lille in 2019, Leao has gone on to win the Serie A title and Supercoppa Italiana. Individually, Leao has six accolades which include being named Serie A’s Most Valuable Player in 2021/22.
