Inter Dealt Injury Blow As Star Defender Forced Off In Roma Clash With UCL Semi-Final On The Horizon

Start

The latest Banjamin Pavard injury news has revealed the Inter defender is a huge doubt for Wednesday’s clash against Barcelona.

Pavard suffered an ankle sprain after a heavy tackle from Roma’s Zeki Celik in the 1-0 Serie A defeat on Sunday. The France international underwent treatment from the Nerazzurri’s medical staff.

He even returned to the pitch but was clearly unable to continue. Pavard was eventually subbed out for Yann Bisseck in the 15th minute.

With the first leg of the Champions League semi-final 48 hours away, Pavard’s expected absence will come as a huge blow to the San Siro faithful.

So to will it for the head coach. Last week, Simone Inzaghi raged at the fourth official during Inter’s Coppa Italia defeat to Milan.

Now, he has an injury to concern himself with as well as the Nerazzurri’s poor run of results. Inzaghi’s side are three points behind Napoli in the race for the Serie A table.

Benjamin Pavard Injury News Doesn’t Bode Well For Inter

It is not known at this stage if the latest Benjamin Pavard injury news will definitely rule him out for the mouthwatering clash against Barcelona.

However, Simone Inzaghi said after the Roma defeat the next 48 hours will determine if Pavard can participate in the UCL semi-final first leg.

We’ll see how it is in the next few days,” Inzaghi said.

He twisted in, and he was on the treatment table. He didn’t want to,” the Nerazzurri head coach added. “Because he’s an important player for us. But it forced us to make a change.”

Meanwhile, Marcus Thuram is expected to travel to Spain this week. The forward missed the defeat to Claudio Ranieri’s men at the San Siro on GW34.

Thuram was also absent for the defeats to Milan and Bologna but his return will come as a boost to struggling Inter. So far in 2024-25, Thuram has netted 17 times and provided nine assists in all competitions.
