Here at Foot Italia, we have the Milan vs Inter preview, prediction, team news and predicted lineups ahead of Wednesday’s Coppa Italia semi-final first leg clash.
Milan Vs Inter Preview
The Derby di Milano takes centre stage as Inter aims to beat their fiercest rivals for the first time in 2024/25. In what will be the fourth meeting this season, Simone Inzaghi’s side have lost twice and drawn the other.
One of those losses came in the Supercopa final earlier this year so revenge will very much be on the cards for I Nerazzurri.
In the last Serie A meeting, Stefan de Vrij equalised in second-half injury time to ensure a share of the spoils. Since that 1-1 draw, Inter have won eight games from 11.
That has helped propel Inzaghi’s troops to the UEFA Champions League quarter-final, reach the summit of the league as well as reach the Coppa Italia semi-final.
As ever, the San Siro will play host to the derby whereby Inter can boast the better h2h record. They have 91 wins to their name across all competitions.

Milan certainly have the bragging rights in the derby this season but their domestic form has been alarming. Sergio Conceicao’s side are ninth in the Serie A table.
The Rossoneri have been linked with the likes of Antonio Conte and Roberto De Zerbi. Much has been made of Conceicao’s long-term future with many believing he is on borrowed time.
However, victory over Milan’s nemesis across the two legs will certainly do the Portuguese manager the world of good. But even then, a bigger name could come in to replace him.
On the pitch last time out, goals from Matteo Politano and Romelu Lukaku inflicted defeat on Milan against title-chasing Napoli. Luka Jovic’s 84th minute goal was nothing more than scant consolation.
Interestingly, Milan haven’t won the Coppa Italia since the 2002/03 season. During that campaign, they had the likes of Paolo Maldini and Andriy Shevchenko to call upon.
Milan Vs Inter Team News
Milan aren’t far off boasting a fully-fit squad but will have to make do without Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Emerson Royal. Malick Thiaw is also a doubt.
Up top, Sergio Conceicao has to choose between Santiago Gimenez and Tammy Abraham to lead the line. Rafael Leao is also expected to start.
Meanwhile, Inter will have to do without star forward Lautaro Martinez. The Argentine international hasn’t recovered from a hamstring strain suffered on international duty.
Denzel Dumfries and Piotr Zielinski are also ruled out through injury. Marko Arnautovic is in line to partner Marcus Thuram in attack.
