Start

Kyle Walker is set to return to the Milan squad despite not being at his physical best, Sergio Conceicao has confirmed in his latest injury update ahead of Wednesday’s Coppa Italia semi-final vs Inter.

Milan have been dealt an injury boost ahead of Wednesday’s Coppa Italia semi-final second leg against Inter, with manager Sergio Conceicao revealing in his latest injury update that Kyle Walker and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are set to be available after returning to full training.

Walker underwent surgery on a broken elbow at the start of the month, while Loftus-Cheek has been recovering after an appendectomy, but the English duo are set to be involved for the crucial derby clash.

The scoreline is level at 1-1 after the first leg, where Tammy Abraham opened the scoring before Hakan Calhanoglu drew I Nerazzurri, meaning it’s all to play for ahead of the second encounter at the San Siro.

It looks as though Bologna await the winner in the final, as they currently lead 3-0 against Serie A relegation battlers Empoli in the other semi-final, with their second leg clash due to be played on Thursday.

Milan Injury Update: Walker and Loftus-Cheek Set To Return

“Walker and Loftus-Cheek trained with the team. They are not at their physical best, but they will be available,” Conceicao said in his pre-match press conference ahead of the second leg.

“It will definitely be a competitive Milan, full of confidence. We have a lot of ambition and motivation.”

Asked if a positive result against Inter can change the outlook on Milan’s underwhelming campaign, Conceicao said: “We have to do our job. It’s a very important match for everyone: players, those who work at Milan, for the fans.

“A positive season for Milan would be to win the Scudetto, to go all the way in the Champions League. For a historic club like Milan, it must be normal to reach the final of the Coppa Italia.”

With Walker and Loftus-Cheek returning to the squad, only Emerson Royal is expected to miss out for I Rossoneri, as the Brazilian full-back continues to struggle with a calf injury.

Milan, now in ninth place in the Italian top-flight table, return to league action with an away fixture against relegation strugglers Venezia on Sunday, where they’ll be looking to bounce back after a narrow 1-0 defeat to Atalanta last time out.
