Fabio Capello Explains How Inter Can Beat Bayern On Tuesday Night

Start

Fabio Capello has told Inter how they can beat German giants Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.

Inter travel to the Allianz Arena hoping to secure a quarter-final first leg advantage against the Bundesliga leaders. Their hosts have a number of key injuries which Capello believes will help aid the Nerazzurri.

Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies, Kingsley Coman, Manuel Neuer and Dayot Upamecano are all ruled out for Vincent Kompany’s side.

That in itself will give Inter the belief that they can take back a positive result for the return fixture at the San Siro. However, Capello has also warned Simeone Inzaghi’s side not to repeat their performance against Parma.

Saturday’s draw hindered Inter’s charge towards the Serie A title. Goals from Matteo Darmian and Marcus Thuram gave Simeone’s men a comfortable 2-0 half-time lead.

After the interval, Adrian Bernabé and Jacob Ondrejka scored for Crociati which ensured a share of the spoils. Luckily for Inter, the 2-2 draw wasn’t capitalized on owing to Napoli’s failure to beat Bologna on Monday.

Fabio Capello Tells Inter How To Beat Bayern

Former Milan player and manager Fabio Capello isn’t renowned for giving Inter positive advice. Nonetheless, the 78-year-old was keen to share his thoughts on how to navigate past Bayern.

Capello told La Gazzetta dello Sport: Inter, be on your toes. Tonight in Munich you have to stay on your toes for 90 minutes. The exact opposite of what we saw on Saturday in Parma, where Inzaghi’s team turned off the lights after closing the first half with a two-goal lead.

The result? Two points lost, even if the gap to Napoli in the standings remained intact. Now, if you’ve already paid the price at the Tardini in Serie A, in the Champions League certain mistakes risk being fatal.

Bayern may have many absences, but they’re still Bayern. If you don’t pay attention and have the right attitude for the whole match, Harry Kane will punish you.”

Concentration will certainly be key from Inter’s perspective. That will include denying the likes of Leroy Sane, Michael Olise and England captain Kane too much of the ball.

Capello also went on to say how he feels the game can be won in midfield and that he believes Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram will hurt Bayern on Tuesday night.
