Elkann: “It’s Year Zero for Juventus. Giuntoli will shape the future”

Start

Exor CEO John Elkann says it’s ‘year zero’ for Juventus, with new club director Cristiano Giuntoli set to lead the clubs rebuild. The Juve patron was writing in an annual letter (as quoted by GianlucadiMarzio) to Exor shareholders and touched on the Bianconeri’s recent changes at managerial level and his plans for the future of the club:

“2023 represented a year of transition. Under its new Board of Directors chaired by Gianluca Ferrero, attention has been focused on resolving the issues it was facing with Sporting Justice, both in Italy and in Europe… The 2023/24 season is therefore the ‘Year Zero,’ in which the club is laying the foundations for its comeback, both on and off the field.”

Elkann then spoke about Cristiano Giuntoli. The Football Director is the figure identified to build Juventus’ present and future: “Cristiano Giuntoli, who arrived in 2023 and was just named ‘Best Sporting Director of the Year’ at the Globe Soccer Awards for his work with Napoli last year, will help shape the future of Juventus. The team aims to return to the Champions League and has already confirmed its participation in FIFA’s expanded Club World Cup in the summer of 2025. With a greater focus on the young talents of its Next Gen (who have shown their value this year), Juventus aims to build a sustainable cost structure in line with UEFA’s new regulations.”

Finally, an appeal to Juventus fans: “If you know our fans, our players, and our spirit, the phrase ‘fino alla fine’ won’t be new to you. It embodies the club’s determination to continue fighting and overcoming adversity, a conviction typical of Edoardo Agnelli when he was appointed president on July 24, 1923. From that moment, a century-long love story began between the Bianconeri families and my own family. A bond that in 2023 we celebrated with generations of fans in Italy and around the world, all united by love for Juventus. Forza Juve.”
