The Barcelona Vs Inter 2010 UEFA Champions League Semi-Final Lineups

Start

Ahead of this year’s mouthwatering showdown, we take a trip down memory lane and revisit the Barcelona vs Inter 2010 lineups from the UEFA Champions League semi-final.

The LaLiga giants were favoured to make light work of the Nerazzuri. However, Pep Guardiola’s side found the Italians extremely hard to break down and ultimately lost 3-2 on aggregate.

Four of the five goals came in the first leg at the San Siro. Jose Mourinho was in the dugout for Inter and his tactical genius over the two games proved pivotal.

Pedro opened the scoring for Barca before the Serie A side hit back. Goals from Maicon, Wesley Sneijder and Diego Milito gave Mourinho’s men the advantage.

In the second leg, a defensive masterclass at the Nou Camp ensured Inter safe passage to the final. This despite Gerard Pique’s late winner. Inter also played the majority of the game with 10 men owing to a Thiago Motta red card.

At the final whistle of the 1-0 defeat, Mourinho ran across the pitch celebrating with the Inter fans. Naturally, this upset the Barca supporters and also goalkeeper Victor Valdes who blasted the Inter manager.
