After beating rivals Inter 4-1 on aggregate in the 2024-25 semi-final, we wanted to know how many times have AC Milan won the Coppa Italia?
The Rossoneri ended Simone Inzaghi’s side’s treble chances in scintillating fashion at the San Siro. Luke Jovic helped himself to a brace before Tijjani Reijnders got his name on the scoresheet in a 3-0 second leg win.
Milan have struggled somewhat under Sergio Conceicao in Serie A this season. However, the Portuguese head coach could lead the club to their second title of the year in May.
Conceicao was in the dugout when Milan beat the Nerazzurri 3-2 in the Supercoppa Italiana final in January. Theo Hernandez, Christian Pulisic and Tammy Abraham scored the goals in Riyadh.
With this year’s showpiece pencilled in for May 14, 2025, the Rossoneri have the chance to end the season on a high note. They will play either Bologna or Empoli with the winner to be determined on Thursday.
AC Milan Coppa Italia Titles
The number of Milan Coppa Italia titles the Rossoneri can currently boast is five. That number will come as a surprise to most. Especially as their last victory was in the early 2000s.
In the 1966-67 campaign, the club won their first Coppa Italia after beating Padova 1-0 at the Stadio Olimpico. Amarildo scored the winner after 49 minutes.
The second success came in 1971-72. An own goal from Dino Panzanato and a Roberto Rosato strike was enough to claim a 2-0 win against Napoli.
Milan retained the Coppa Italia the following season when they got the better of Juventus. The match ended 1-1 after extra-time before the Rossoneri prevailed 5-2 on penalties.
One of Milan’s most famous victories came against rivals Inter as the two clubs went toe-to-toe at the San Siro in the 1976-77 campaign. Aldo Maldera and Giorgio Braglia netted in a 2-0 win.
Their last and most recent success came in 2002-03. The Coppa Italia final was played over two legs which saw Milan beat Roma 6-3 on aggregate.
Milan has played in two finals since then and lost out to Juventus both times. Overall, they are the fifth most successful side in the competition’s history.
