Sandro Tonali, the former AC Milan midfielder, made his long-awaited return to Newcastle United’s St. James’ Park after serving a 316-day suspension related to a betting scandal. While Tonali had previously featured in an away EFL Cup match against Nottingham Forest on August 18, today marked his first home appearance since the ban.

As Newcastle faced Tottenham in a Premier League clash, the Magpies’ faithful seized the opportunity to give Tonali a warm welcome back. Despite not being in the starting lineup chosen by manager Eddie Howe, Tonali was the focus of a special tribute from the fans.

The Newcastle supporters unveiled a large banner in honor of their Italian midfielder, displaying the message “Midfield Maestro from Milan”. This gesture not only celebrated Tonali’s return but also acknowledged his roots and the skills he brought from his time in Serie A.
