Legendary Milan defender Alessandro Nesta says the decision to sack sporting director Paolo Maldini ‘defies logic’. The club made the announcement on Monday, confirming that they would be parting ways with Maldini, a decision that left many in the footballing world perplexed.
Speaking with Sky Sport Italia, Nesta shared his own thoughts on the decision and confirmed that he is close to announcing his next coaching role:
“We are almost there with Reggiana, I would like to come back and I am happy. Now I’m waiting for the club to make it official.”
“Maldini’s sacking? I don’t know what happened but it defies all logic. I believe that foreign companies coming to Italy are welcome because they bring money and ideas but they have to study the history of a club, as Ancelotti said well today. I believe that what Paolo did by taking Milan back to win the Scudetto and into the semifinals of the Champions League cannot go unnoticed.”
