Italy legend Alessandro Nesta believes Juventus have taken one step forward and two steps back, and believes Matthijs De Ligt should have just gone to Bayern without commenting on the Bianconeri. The Old Lady have endured a tough start to the season, losing both their opening Champions League group stage matches, but Nesta believes this is a problem that has been years in the making. Speaking to Corriere della Sera, the former Milan defender outlined what he believes Juve’s problems are:
“There is a more general confusion, for years they have been taking one step forward and two steps back, there is a lack of a precise line, even on the transfer market. Allegri? It’s not all his fault. There is no clarity.”
Nesta was also asked about comments made by former Juve defender De Ligt who was critical of his former club after leaving this summer:
“I would not have made certain statements. They paid €70 million for you, they wanted you at all costs, you were injured for so long. Are you going to leave for Bayern? Just go then.”
