Ndour Unveils His Ambitions at Fiorentina: “I Closed All Doors for This Move”

Start

Cher Ndour, Fiorentina’s new midfield acquisition from PSG, introduced himself to the press in his first conference as a Viola player. The young talent shared his thoughts on his move, ambitions, and experiences.

Reflecting on his time abroad, Ndour stated, “The experiences abroad were formative, especially on a human level. I’ve been in great locker rooms. But I missed Italy. Many teams were interested in me, but this is the right place for me.” He expressed his versatility, adding, “I like the classic box-to-box role, but I’m available for any position, from defensive midfielder to attacking midfielder. I’m at the coach’s disposal.”

Ndour’s decision to join Fiorentina was decisive. “When my agent told me about Fiorentina, all other doors closed. This is the right project, and I pushed for it from the start,” he revealed. The prospect of playing for the national team also excites him: “Spalletti has spoken about me, and I’m pleased. I hope to do well and make it to the Azzurri.”

On the trend of young Italian talents returning to Serie A, Ndour commented, “I’ve already spoken with my teammates, and we’re building relationships with the other Italians. In recent years, Serie A has been on an important growth path. My arrival and Casadei’s demonstrate this, I’m happy.”

Ndour also spoke fondly of his time at Atalanta: “I had a great time at Atalanta. They push hard on young players, but I felt I needed a change, a new adventure.” He mentioned impressive teammates from his career, noting, “Mbappé does things in training that aren’t human. But I’ve also played with Enzo Fernandez, Hakimi, Dembélé.”

Regarding his position on the field, Ndour expressed flexibility: “I can help in different roles, wherever the coach wants me. I followed Serie A even when abroad. The championship is different from others: it’s more physical and tactical. With my physicality, it won’t be a problem, but I still need to adapt.”

Ndour also shared his admiration for Fiorentina legend Rui Costa: “I’m fond of Rui Costa, with whom I have a great relationship. He always treated me very well, and I’ll thank him forever.”

Looking ahead, Ndour is optimistic about Fiorentina’s prospects: “The group is young, and that helps. They’re all good guys, and there’s a desire to achieve the best position in the standings.” He concluded with a clear ambition: “The goal is to try to win something. We can achieve great results; we must train well to be ready and give our best.”
