Nations League | Italy v France: Probable starting lineups

Start

The final standings of Italy’s group in the Nations League A will be decided at San Siro as the Azzurri host France with more than one favorable outcome available to them. Luciano Spalletti’s men only need to avoid losing by more than two goals to secure the top spot. Even if the match ends with a two-goal victory for France (0-2, 1-3, 2-4, etc.), Italy would still come out on top due to their superior goal difference, having won 3-1 in the away fixture in Paris.

The current standings show Italy with 13 points and France with 10, leaving the French team with no choice but to aim for a convincing win if they hope to snatch the group leadership.

Spalletti is making only one change to his lineup, with Kean replacing Retegui as the striker. For France, Mbappé is absent, while Kolo Muani is favored over Thuram for the attacking role. Tchouameni is expected to start ahead of AC Milan’s Fofana in midfield. Theo Hernandez has been ruled out due to a knee injury, but his Milan teammate Maignan will be present in goal.

Italy (3-5-1-1): Donnarumma; Di Lorenzo, Buongiorno, Bastoni; Cambiaso, Frattesi, Rovella, Tonali, Dimarco; Barella; Kean.

France (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Koundè, Konaté, Saliba, Digne; Tchouameni, Kanté; Nkunku, Olise, Barcola; Kolo Muani.
