Napoli’s sporting director Manna addresses Danilo rumours

Start

Ahead of Napoli’s match against Fiorentina, sporting director Giovanni Manna addressed the media, touching on the team’s recent form and transfer market rumours.

Antonio Conte’s side entered the match on a three-game winning streak, having put behind them consecutive losses to Marco Baroni’s Lazio in both the Coppa Italia and league play. While on-field matters remain the priority, the January transfer window has opened, and Napoli is actively working to strengthen their squad.

One of the primary targets for De Laurentiis’ club is a defender, with former Juventus captain Danilo emerging as a potential option in recent weeks. Manna, however, was cautious in his comments about the Brazilian.

“I find it a bit disrespectful to talk about the transfer market at this moment. We are in an extremely positive situation. Speaking about negotiations is not correct because it diminishes the work of a group that has done very well,” Manna stated.

Regarding Danilo specifically, he added: “Danilo is an extremely important player who is experiencing a complicated situation, but we are focused on ourselves. I find it a bit unpleasant to discuss this now.”

The situation surrounding Danilo has become increasingly complex. The defender has been excluded from Juventus’ squad and did not travel with the team to Riyadh for their Supercoppa Italiana semifinal against Milan, which they lost 2-1.

Reports suggest that Danilo is training separately and wishes to be released from his contract, allowing him to choose his next destination freely. While Napoli are considered the frontrunner to secure his services, they are not the only club interested in the experienced Brazilian.
