Napoli are hoping a lucrative contract will be enough to convince Antonio Conte to make the move to Naples. The former Juventus coach has been without a club since being dismissed by Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur in 2023.
Il Mattino via TMW report that following a disappointing season post their Serie A triumph, which witnessed a revolving door of coaches and a barren trophy cabinet, Napoli are gearing up for a significant overhaul. Additionally, the impending departure of star striker Victor Osimhen adds urgency to the need for a strategic rebuild.
Conte, with his proven track record of success in Serie A, has emerged as the frontrunner to take the reins from Francesco Calzona at Napoli. De Laurentiis has reportedly been engaged in persistent negotiations with the esteemed tactician, aiming to entice him to lead the club’s resurgence.
Napoli are reportedly prepared to meet Conte’s demands head-on. The proposed contract spans three years and boasts a total value of €24 million net, equating to an annual salary of €8 million net. Furthermore, the club has offered Conte significant authority in the transfer market, including a say in the selection of Osimhen’s replacement.
Despite swirling rumors linking Conte to a potential return to Juventus, Napoli remain undeterred in their pursuit. While discussions with Juventus director Francesco Calvo persist, the club seems inclined towards a younger and more cost-effective coaching option if they opt for a change at the helm, with Conte firmly in their sights.
