Napoli’s January transfer plans: Potential swap deal with Fiorentina

Start

As the January transfer window approaches, Napoli are actively exploring potential moves to strengthen their squad. One of the most discussed possibilities is a swap deal involving left-backs Cristiano Biraghi and Leonardo Spinazzola between Napoli and Fiorentina.

Corriere dello Sport report how the proposed exchange would see Biraghi, who has had a falling out with Fiorentina coach Raffaele Palladino, joining Napoli in exchange for Spinazzola. The 32-year-old Biraghi has expressed a desire for more playing time, especially since the left flank at Fiorentina has been dominated by Olivera. Meanwhile, Spinazzola, at 31 years old, is looking for increased opportunities to showcase his talents.

In addition to the potential swap, Fiorentina has shown interest in Michael Folorunsho, a midfielder whose playing time has diminished this season following his call-up to the national team. The club is eager to reinforce their midfield after losing one of their key players, Edoardo Bove.

Napoli is also targeting Danilo Luiz da Silva from Juventus as a primary defensive reinforcement. At 33 years old, Danilo brings extensive experience and versatility to the table, capable of playing in various defensive roles. His contract is set to expire soon, making him an attractive option for Napoli’s defense.

Another intriguing aspect of the transfer discussions involves Giacomo Raspadori. The young forward has caught the attention of Juventus, who have been interested in him since last summer. Raspadori’s limited appearances this season have led him to seek more consistent playing time.

Danilo’s situation has evolved recently; he was initially benched in a Coppa Italia match but has since regained his starting position under coach Motta. He expressed his commitment to Juventus, stating that he intends to stay until his contract expires in 2025 unless the club decides otherwise.

Other options being considered include Luiz Felipe, a Brazilian defender recently released from Al-Ittihad, and Lucas Martinez Quarta from Fiorentina. Jakub Kiwior from Arsenal is also on Napoli’s radar but remains a less likely option due to Arsenal’s preference for a permanent transfer rather than a loan.

As for Raspadori, he remains a sought-after player with interest from multiple clubs, including Roma, as they evaluate their squad for potential changes.
