Napoli’s Hunt for Kvaratskhelia’s Successor: Garnacho and Adeyemi in the Spotlight

Start

As Kvicha Kvaratskhelia prepares to join Paris Saint-Germain for €70 million plus bonuses, with medical examinations scheduled for tomorrow, Napoli have stepped up their search for a suitable replacement. Alejandro Garnacho of Manchester United remains at the top of Antonio Conte’s wishlist, but his hefty price tag of at least €70 million, coupled with a contract running until 2028, makes the deal challenging. While the Argentine player has shown interest in joining the Azzurri, it might not be enough to seal the transfer.

Calciomercato report how among the alternatives being explored, Karim Adeyemi has emerged as a strong contender alongside Edon Zhegrova from Lille. Adeyemi, a left-footed winger capable of playing on either flank, has caught Napoli’s attention. The 22-year-old Nigerian-German is seen as a good fit for Conte’s playing style, known for his pace, work ethic, and technical skills.

Adeyemi played a crucial role in Borussia Dortmund’s Champions League campaign last season, showcasing his speed and team-oriented play. This season, despite limited playing time due to a muscle injury, he has managed 5 goals and 5 assists in 11 appearances across all competitions.

Dortmund’s recent struggles in the Bundesliga, coupled with the departure of Donyell Malen to Aston Villa (potentially making room for Rashford), have fuelled speculation about Adeyemi’s future. While his contract with Dortmund runs until June 2027, the German club has set an initial asking price of €50 million.

However, Napoli face competition from Chelsea, who are also interested in investing in the young talent. The London club’s financial capabilities pose a significant challenge to Napoli’s pursuit.
