Napoli’s Christmas wishlist: Conte eyes defensive reinforcements

Start

As the winter transfer window approaches, Napoli manager Antonio Conte is hoping for at least one defensive addition to bolster his squad. The summer transfer window was a busy one for Napoli, with President De Laurentiis investing nearly 150 million euros in new signings. Key additions like Alessandro Buongiorno and Scott McTominay have made a significant impact, helping the team secure second place in the league, just two points behind the leaders.

However, with Buongiorno’s recent injury side-lining him until late January, the need for defensive reinforcements has become more pressing. The club is actively exploring options, with Arsenal’s Jakub Kiwior emerging as a dream target, albeit a challenging one due to the English club’s high demands.

Calcioermcato report that Napoli are  also considering other defensive options. Danilo from Juventus is on their radar, though his status as Juve’s captain complicates a mid-season move. Other names in the mix include Ismajli from Empoli, Bijol from Udinese, and Martinez Quarta from Fiorentina.

In midfield, while not an immediate necessity, Napoli is monitoring potential movements. Roma’s Pellegrini and Juventus’ Fagioli are being watched, with Folorunsho possibly departing to make room. A deal for young talent Hasa from Lecce is reportedly close to completion.

The full-back position is another area of focus, with Lecce’s Dorgu a target for the summer. In the short term, Fiorentina’s Biraghi could be an option, though this depends on Spinazzola’s potential departure.

Outgoing transfers are also a consideration. Raspadori’s future at the club seems uncertain, though Conte is reluctant to let him go mid-season, especially to a rival. Simeone, despite limited playing time, appears content to stay until the end of the season.
