Napoli Target Chiesa as Potential Kvaratskhelia Replacement

Start

Napoli’s head coach Antonio Conte has reportedly identified Federico Chiesa as a prime target should Khvicha Kvaratskhelia depart the club. The Italian winger’s brief stint at Liverpool appears to be nearing its end, with the player struggling to find playing time in a high-performing squad.

Calciomercato report how Chiesa, who joined Liverpool from Juventus last summer, has found it challenging to break into a formidable attacking lineup featuring the likes of Salah, Gakpo, Luis Diaz, Jones, and Darwin Nunez. This lack of opportunity has led to speculation about a potential return to Italy, with Napoli emerging as a strong contender for his signature.

The 27-year-old has made just four appearances totalling 123 minutes across all competitions for Liverpool this season. Reds manager Arne Slot has repeatedly emphasized that Chiesa needs more time to regain full fitness, often leaving him out of matchday squads for extra training sessions or assigning him to the reserve team.

Napoli’s interest in Chiesa is closely tied to the uncertain future of Kvaratskhelia. With the Georgian star’s contract set to expire in June 2027 and renewal negotiations at an impasse, Paris Saint-Germain’s reported interest has intensified speculation about a potential January move. Should Kvaratskhelia depart, Napoli would need to act swiftly to secure a replacement, with Chiesa emerging as a favoured option.

Liverpool, having invested £12 million in Chiesa, are reportedly open to facilitating a move that could help revitalize the player’s career. Napoli is considering proposing a loan deal with an option to buy, with Liverpool potentially covering a portion of Chiesa’s wages.

The Italian international is said to be amenable to a return to Serie A, and Napoli’s existing relationship with Chiesa’s agent, Fali Ramadani of Lian Sports, could smooth negotiations.
