Napoli take huge blow in midfield as Elmas and Anguissa deemed injured

Start

Coach Walter Mazzarri’s takes a huge hit in the midfield department as two vital players are deemed injured following Napoli’s 2-1 victory over Cagliari.

CalcioNapoli1926 reports that Franck Anguissa is set to train on his own in preparation for the Partenopei’s upcoming fixture against Frosinone in the Round of 16 of the Coppa Italia as he suffered trauma to his right foot against the Rossoblu.

In addition, Elif Elmas will most likely not be able to take part in Mazzarri’s squad heading into the upcoming cup match on Neapolitan soil as medical examinations indicated that the North Macedonian attacking-midfielder underwent  a low-grade lesion on his left hamstring.

Mazzarri hopes that his two star midfielders can recover swiftly as the Azzurri face a vital clash over the weekend against top-four hopefuls Roma at the Stadio Diego Maradona Saturday evening.

As it stands, Napoli sit in fifth with a total of 27 points, only a single point adrift from fourth-placed Bologna and two points ahead of the Giallorossi. Consequently, sealing all three points will be essential in order to keep last year’s champions within distance of a Champions League qualifying spot.
