Napoli stepping up transfer plans with triple swoop: Gilmour, Neres, and Brescianini

Start

Napoli are ramping up its transfer activities, focusing on strengthening the midfield as requested by manager Antonio Conte. The club has identified three key targets: Billy Gilmour, David Neres, and Marco Brescianini.

Il Corriere dello Sport report that for Gilmour, Napoli has already submitted an offer of £8 million (approximately €10 million) to Brighton & Hove Albion. While Brighton’s CEO Paul Barber confirmed receiving the bid, he stated it has been rejected for now. The 23-year-old Scottish midfielder, known for his vision and quick vertical passing, is seen as a potential alternative to Stanislav Lobotka.

Marco Brescianini, valued at €12 million, is another midfield target. The 24-year-old impressed at Frosinone last season, showcasing his versatility by playing both as a midfielder and an attacking midfielder. Napoli’s sporting director has been tracking Brescianini since his time at Juventus.

On the attacking front, David Neres from Benfica has emerged as the primary target for the trequartista position. The 27-year-old Brazilian is reportedly keen on a move away from the Portuguese club.

These potential incomings are balanced by outgoing transfers. Jesper Lindstrom’s loan move to Everton has been officially announced, while Leo Ostigard’s permanent transfer to Rennes for €7 million is in the final stages.

Napoli’s transfer strategy appears to be following a one-in, one-out policy, with the club looking to reshape its squad under Conte’s guidance. The situation of current players like Gianluca Gaetano and Jens Cajuste remains uncertain, with both potentially moving on in search of more playing time.
