Napoli – Salernitana postponed, De Laurentiis ‘satisfied’

Start

Napoli’s match against Salernitana has been officially postponed with Partenopei president Aurelio De Laurentiis saying he is ‘satisfied’ with the decision. The game was originally scheduled for Saturday 29 April but has been postponed to the following day for ‘public security reasons.’ Should Napoli beat the Granata in the rearranged fixture, and Lazio fail to win against Inter, the Azzurri would win their first title in over 30 years. Speaking after the decision was confirmed (as quoted by TuttoNapoli), De Laurentiis expressed his satisfaction with the decision and explained why they are still waiting to make decisions on their potential title celebrations in the city:

“I am extremely satisfied with ‘prevention rather than cure’. In the past, there have never been these meetings aimed at not leaving things to chance. There have been other occasions to celebrate, I remember the Coppa Italia and the Super Cup and the move to Serie A. This is a city that loves to celebrate a lot, but it has to be done in total safety. The city has become conscious and mature, and I applaud the growth; Naples is seen everywhere, not only in football, but also as a city.”

“Open top bus parade? We haven’t decided anything yet, we were waiting for the League and the decisions of the Ministry of the Interior. We are still waiting for the timetable from the League because it is their responsibility, it is not up to us. We still don’t know how to circumstantiate and predict what can be done. But I believe that as the mayor explained to me, Sunday and Monday will be two days full of events: I assume there will be an unprecedented presence of many traffic jams and we want to avoid Napoli adding chaos to chaos, and I foresee that the celebrations must begin and end in the Maradona stadium.”
