Napoli have reignited their pursuit of Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund as negotiations for Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho hit a roadblock. The Italian club are actively seeking a replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who was recently sold to Paris Saint-Germain for €70 million.
Calciomercato report that Antonio Conte and Napoli’s management have prioritized finding a suitable successor for the Georgian winger. While Garnacho has been their primary target for days, the deal remains in limbo. Despite a reduction in Manchester United’s asking price from €75 million to around €65 million, and Napoli’s offer ranging between €50-55 million, an agreement has not been reached. The latest meeting between the clubs’ sporting directors failed to produce a definitive accord, prompting United’s representatives to return to England.
In light of these difficulties, Napoli have rekindled their interest in Karim Adeyemi. The 22-year-old German forward had previously been on the club’s radar. Napoli have already initiated contact with Borussia Dortmund, with a formal proposal expected if terms can be agreed with the player.
Convincing Dortmund to sell doesn’t appear to be a major hurdle. The German club is reportedly open to offers around €40 million for Adeyemi, significantly less than United’s valuation of Garnacho. Dortmund have already identified a potential replacement in Yunus Akgun, a 24-year-old from Galatasaray who has impressed with 11 goals in 27 appearances this season.
The main challenge for Napoli lies in persuading Adeyemi himself. The young forward and his entourage reportedly prefer to postpone any move until the summer. Napoli is now working to secure the player’s approval before advancing negotiations with Borussia Dortmund.
