Napoli and Manchester United are continuing negotiations for Alejandro Garnacho, the Italian club’s top target following Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s sale to Paris Saint-Germain. Fresh contacts have been made today as Aurelio De Laurentiis’ club persists in their efforts to secure the 20-year-old Spanish-born Argentine winger.
Calciomercato report that Antonio Conte is maintaining pressure to complete the deal, following a phone call with Garnacho last Friday. Meanwhile, the player continues to train regularly with the Red Devils, as he did this morning.
Regarding the negotiation details, Giovanni Manna had presented an initial offer of 50 million euros, including bonuses, which was deemed unsatisfactory by the English club. There’s currently a gap of about 20 million euros between the demand and offer, but there’s a willingness to find a solution that satisfies all parties, especially Conte.
Within Manchester United, part of the board would like to receive the same amount PSG paid Napoli for Kvaratskhelia, which is 70 million euros. Another faction, according to English sources, would be inclined to accept a 60 million euro offer. The latter seems to be the right figure to reach an agreement.
Garnacho and Napoli have already reached a basic agreement on salary and contract terms. The forward has agreed to a five-year contract worth 4 million euros net per season. The Italian club’s confidence is growing by the hour, to the point where there are currently no backup plans. The coming hours will be decisive, with Napoli expected to formalize an improved offer: at 60 million euros, the deal could be closed.
