Napoli linked with Mazzarri to replace Garcia

Start

Napoli are being linked with former coach Walter Mazzarri as they look to replace Rudi Garcia during the international break.  The Frenchman looks almost certain to be fired in the coming days after a string of poor results left them 10 points off the top of the table and in danger of dropping out of the title race.

Sky Sport Italia and La Gazzetta dello Sport had reported that the first choice for club president Aurelio De Laurentiis was former Verona and Marseille coach, Igor Tudor. The Croatian is currently without a coaching position, having left Marseille at the end of last season.

Sky suggest that as of today, there is still no final decision from De Laurentiis on Garcia’s heir for the Napoli bench: yesterday, Monday 13 November, the Azzurri offered a one-year contract to Igor Tudor, who has reportedly given his willingness to sign. But Napoli will also meet Walter Mazzarri today: a sign that the decision has not yet been made.

Mazzarri would accept the an of six months without renewal options and could therefore really win the role over Tudor, also because of his greater knowledge of the club and the relationship with president De Laurenitiis.

De Laurentiis and the Napoli top management team will meet the former Cagliari and Torino coach to talk about a possible return to the Azzurri later today, while Tudor remains a live option.
