Napoli are being linked with Celta Vigo’s Gabri Veiga, but face competitions from Chelsea for the young talent. The Partenopei are expected to lose Piotr Zielinski this summer, and are keen to find long-term midfield additions ahead of next season.
La Gazzetta dello Sport and Sky Sport Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio report that Veiga is a realistic target for Napoli, as they want a goalscoring midfielder who can add an extra dimension to the centre of the pitch.
Di Marzio reports that Napoli have been in contact with Veiga’s agents, and talks are ongoing to see if he wants to make a move to Italy. The Partenopei are expected to offer between €30-35 million for the youngster, while Celta value him at €40 million.
The Spanish midfielder is a product of Celta Vigo’s youth sector and made his first-team debut on 19 September 2020. In the 2022/23 season he took a centre stage for Celta in the Primera División, where he made 36 appearances, scored 11 goals and provided 4 assists.
