Napoli are leading the race to sign Bari striker Walid Cheddira this month.
Cheddira, 24, has been linked with moves to Serie A since October. The Morocco international has scored ten goals and contributed five assists to Bari’s campaign in Serie B this season, leading Sampdoria, Monza, and Udinese to monitor him alongside Luciano Spalletti’s team.
Napoli have been linked with several Moroccan players following the nation’s excellent performance at the World Cup. Azzedine Ounahi is of strong interest to the club, but due to the player’s wide-spread appeal reports linking an imminent transfer have quieted in recent days.
Journalist Nicolò Schira, who broke the news of Napoli’s initial circling of Cheddira in October, has reported an update on their chase.
Schira claims that Napoli are currently the frontrunners in the race to capture Cheddira’s signature. The club are alleged to have a proposal to present to Bari: signing the striker permanently now and loaning him immediately back to finish the season in Serie B.
Victor Osimhen is expected to be involved in a transfer saga this summer with Manchester United consistently linked to Napoli’s Nigerian striker.
