Napoli supporters groups have filed a class action lawsuit against UEFA and referee Istvan Kovacs following the Champions League quarter-final with Milan. Many Napoli fans were disappointed with the standard of officiating during the game, with several journalists shouting insults at the officials in the mixed zone after the game.

TuttoNapoli now report that associations ‘Noi Consumatori’ and ‘Napoli Club Maradona’ are being assisted by lawyer Angelo Pisani to make their case against European footballs governing body. Their argument cites the officiating of Romanian referee Kovacs, saying that it ‘violated the principles of sporting fairness’ during their 1-0 defeat to the Rossoneri. A statement from the group read:
“The principles of sports fairness have been violated. We are ready for a class action to demand 150 million euros in damages from Uefa, Ceferin and Marchetti. Last night’s refereeing at the San Siro risks breaking a dream of an entire city, damages millions of fans who have always been in love with the sport and who naively incur thousands of euros in costs to be close to their favorite team.
Uefa cannot treat Naples and Napoli in this way.”
