Napoli are reportedly considering a late transfer window move for PSV Eindhoven midfielder Jerdy Schouten. According to Dutch sources, Antonio Conte’s side is prepared to offer between €20-30 million for the 27-year-old former Bologna player.
The summer transfer window has not gone as planned for Napoli fans, but there’s still time for the club to strengthen their squad. As they near completion of a deal to bring Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku back to Italy, Conte is keen to bolster his midfield options.
Initially, Napoli had shown interest in Manchester United’s Scott McTominay. However, negotiations with the Premier League club have stalled, prompting the Italian side to explore alternatives. Schouten has emerged as a viable option for Conte’s team.
The Dutch midfielder, who left Bologna for PSV last summer, played a crucial role in PSV’s Eredivisie title win in his debut season. Now, he could be set for a swift return to Serie A if Napoli decide to intensify their pursuit.
While Schouten is not the only player on Conte’s radar, he appears to be the most attainable target given Manchester United’s firm stance on McTominay’s valuation. Napoli are also looking to offload Michael Folorunsho, who has attracted interest from several Serie A clubs.
