In a pre-match interview with Mediaset before Napoli’s Coppa Italia round of 16 clash against Lazio, Napoli’s Sporting Director Giovanni Manna addressed several key issues surrounding the club’s players and future plans.
Manna expressed confidence in the team’s preparation, stating, “We see the responses every day in training, we are calm. Those who take the field tonight know what they have to do, we have no concerns. We are curious to see them play, there is no problem.”
When asked about the possibility of Napoli winning a trophy, Manna emphasized the club’s ongoing development process. “We are in a construction phase because we have changed a lot, including the coach. Conte wants to build solid and lasting foundations so that these foundations can last over time. We work on ourselves, today is another important test for us, and every Sunday we see what level we are at.”
Regarding player contracts, Manna touched on the situation with Mathías Olivera, saying, “We meet with all our players’ agents, it was a meeting like many others, and we talked about many things. Mati is having a good season, we are extremely happy. We’ll see.”
The director was more cautious when discussing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s contract renewal. “We have met and talked. We don’t want to continue talking about it now, we will do it again at the end of the season because he has two more years on his contract. We want him to stay focused on the field, we want to reward him. We are calm about that too.”
Finally, Manna addressed the speculation surrounding Victor Osimhen’s potential January departure. He concisely stated, “Technically possible, but no one has called us.”
