Reports from Italy claim Napoli are closing in on an agreement with striker Victor Osimhen to extend his contract. The Nigerian international was fundamental to the Partenopei’s title bid last season and spoke just recently of how much the Napoli faithful mean to him, prompting speculation that he may not leave this summer.
Osimhen has been the subject of interest from Bayern Munich and Manchester United throughout the year, and there was a suggestion that the Bundesliga side would look to him to lead their attack next season.
Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Napoli are at work to renew Osimhen’s contract in the coming weeks, and have already held meetings with agent to discuss terms.
The suggestion is that they would offer an increase in salary for the 24-year-old, as well as including a release clause that would ward off any potential bids this summer.
Osimhen scored 31 goals in all competitions in the 2022-23 campaign, leading the charge to Napoli’s first Scudetto in 33 years.
