Sky Sport Italia report how Napoli continue to plan for the future, with contract renewals being a key focus. On Tuesday this week, the club met with Federico Pastorello, Alex Meret’s agent, in Milan during the Milan-Napoli match to discuss the goalkeeper’s contract extension.
The club have presented a new offer to extend Meret’s contract until 2027 or 2028. While the two parties are closer to an agreement, the deal is not yet finalized. There is optimism on both sides, but a gap still needs to be bridged.
Pastorello had previously commented on the situation during the AIACS assembly on October 14, saying, “We have been in contact, even before the international break. Alex is very happy with the season. He’s been at Napoli for 5 years and feels very comfortable there.”
The agent added, “I don’t rule out the possibility of reaching an agreement, but there’s a negotiation to be done. The important thing is that the parties are in contact.”
Napoli’s sporting director, Manna, recently addressed the club’s ambitions, stating, “Scudetto? There are teams better equipped than us.” This comment suggests that while contract renewals are important, the club is also realistic about its current standing in the league.
