Napoli and Kvaratskhelia at crossroads: Contract negotiations and future uncertain

Start

Napoli finds itself at a critical juncture with star player Khvicha Kvaratskhelia as contract negotiations heat up. The Georgian winger’s current deal, set to expire in June 2027, has become a pressing issue for the club due to his relatively low salary of less than 1.5 million euros per season – a figure that no longer reflects his value or recent interest from top clubs like Paris Saint-Germain.

Calciomercato report that the priority for both parties is to continue their partnership, with Kvaratskhelia not having requested a transfer. However, a significant gap exists between the club’s offer and the player’s demands. Napoli has proposed a new contract worth 5 million euros per season, while Kvaratskhelia’s camp is seeking 8 million. A meeting is scheduled in the coming weeks to bridge this divide, with Napoli hoping to reach an agreement around 6 million euros, potentially including a release clause exceeding 100 million euros.

Should an agreement prove elusive, Napoli may be forced to consider other options. Club president Aurelio De Laurentiis has been candid about the possibility of a sale, stating, “There have been previous cases; if he leaves, we’ll come to terms with it. It’s important to respect both the players’ wishes and the club’s interests.”

While no immediate transfer is planned for January, the summer could bring significant changes. PSG, who made an offer last summer that was rejected, remains interested. However, other suitors, particularly from the Premier League, could emerge if Napoli decides to sell.

For now, the focus remains on the current season, with Napoli’s management and Kvaratskhelia’s agent, Mamuka Jugeli, working behind the scenes. Kvaratskhelia himself continues to be a key player for Napoli, contributing goals and assists while maintaining strong performances on the pitch.
