Napoli have agreed a deal with Hellas Verona for the transfer of striker Giovanni Simeone who will initially arrive on loan. The Partenopei have been in talks with Verona for some time now and are thought to be Simeone’s preferred destination this summer.
Gianluca Di Marzio now reports that Napoli have agreed to sign the 27-year-old on a loan deal with a conditional obligation to buy clause attached.
The Neapolitans will pay an initial €3.5m for the loan plus another €12m to sign Simeone permanently next summer, a clause which will become mandatory should they qualify for the Champions League or is he scores a certain amount of goals or makes a number of appearances.
Simeone spent the last season on loan with Verona, scoring 17 goals in 35 appearances before making the move permanent.
