Jose Mourinho believes Sevilla are a ‘high level with great experience in these moments’, so Roma will need a performance to match. The Giallorossi take on the Spanish side, knowing their opponents have already lifted the trophy six times, while Mourinho has won every European final he has been in. Speaking In his pre-match interview with Sky Sport, the Portuguese tactician explained the work his team are putting in ahead of the match, and also explained that he has already spoken with his two captains regarding the rumours that link him with a departure from Rome this summer:
“We’re working in order to bring the trophy home with us.
“It’s not just the work of the last three days, but a combination of training, experience, dialogue, field work. We have to take all of that and put it in the final.”
“The opponent is of a high level with great experience in these moments. To win you need a very high level performance,” Mourinho added.
“The players who remained with us since I first came here have had an important evolution. They have played 30 European cup matches, with two finals in two years. This experience can make the difference.”
“We’re like a family. We’re not good enough individually, neither me nor the players. We are here because we are a group. Always together, for better or for worse. And that’s what you’ll see on the pitch.”
“Leaving the club? I have spoken to my two captains [Lorenzo Pellegrini and Gianluca Mancini], who are coming out here to talk to [the media] and they asked me a similar question to yours. I was objective with them. I don’t want them to say what has been said, that is between me and my team, but they are aware of my thoughts.”
