Jose Mourinho was proud of Roma’s display in their 0-0 away draw against Bologna, explaining that no matter what, ‘It’s a season where the boys reached their limit’. The Giallorossi sit in 6th place after the result, putting them on course for the Conference League next season, unless they are able to win this seasons Europa League. Speaking with DAZN after the match (as quoted by RomaPress), the Special One applauded his teams approach to a tricky away match, and insisted they have to continue taking the season a game at a time, analysing Thursday’s crunch match once it’s done with:
“Whether we have someone from the Primavera or a player from our women’s team playing, the team’s mentality doesn’t change.
“The qualities may change, but not the basic principles. I’m very proud of this match. We had several new players like Svilar, Missori, and Tahirovic starting yet it was still a good display.”
“Our top four hopes? The supporters have to hear me: when we were second or third in the table, I kept saying we must take things one game at a time because we didn’t have the depth to go all the way in two competitions.”
“We never made any decisions one way or the other, we took things as they came one game at a time. I’ve been saying this for two or three months.”
“Does our season hinge on Thursday? We’ve had a fantastic campaign. We can analyse the result afterwards but we could win or lose (against Bayer Leverkusen), finish fourth or seventh in the league but it’s a season where the lads reached their limit.”
