Mourinho: ‘In difficult moments I take responsibility’

Start

Roma were able to bounce back from their humiliating defeat away to Genoa midweek as they defeated Frosinone 2-0 at Stadio Olimpico on Sunday night. Romelu Lukaku and Lorenzo Pellegrini got on the scoresheet for the Giallorossi to secure what was just their second league victory of the season.

Head coach Jose Mourinho spoke to DAZN after the match to discuss the performance of his players, Pellegrini and Lukaku, and responding to the 4-1 loss away to Genoa:

“In the first half we gave away a couple of good opportunities, we played with a defense made up of a midfielder and a player who recently arrived. For the rest, great effort, especially from Bove and Paredes. The offensive boys gave us a hand without the ball. We were a team, against Frosinone who have an excellent squad, well organised, well trained: I liked it a lot.”

On Pellegrini and Lukaku: “I would be the only one responsible if Lukaku doesn’t score, luckily I won’t be accused of this: Romelu always scores.”

On the Genoa defeat: “We had a horrible start to the season on a numerical level, but it was multifactorial. I am very happy with today’s victory for the boys, to react to the defeat against Genoa requires great strength. Our fans have always supported us, they were a team too.”

“I have always been a haven of safety for my players. In easy moments for the team I stand aside, in difficult ones I take responsibility.”
