Mourinho: ‘Cassano is only remembered for his jacket’

Start

Roma coach Jose Mourinho hit back at Antonio Cassano, saying he ‘didn’t even win the Lombardy Cup’ with Inter and is only remembered for his jacket at Real Madrid. Cassano was critical of the Portuguese tactician, saying that Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri loves football, while Mourinho’s football is ‘nothing’ in comparison. Speaking after Roma’s 1-0 win over Torino at the weekend, Mourinho was asked about Cassano’s comments and was quick to respond:

“Everyone is free to have his preferences or even to criticize. But when it comes to others, like Antonio Cassano, things are different: he has fun, others work seriously. Cassano played in Roma, Inter and Real: in Madrid he is remembered for his jacket, with Roma he won a Super Cup without playing, in Inter he did not even win the Lombardy Cup. Instead, you know what I won with Inter, Real Madrid and Roma. He will have a problem with me, but I don’t have a problem with him. I only tell him one thing: watch out Antonio, you are 40 years old and I am 60, sometimes Marko Livaja comes at you,  and after that it’s hard.”

The reference to Croatian Marko Livaja is potentially in reference to an altercation that Cassano had with the former Inter striker, a incident that reportedly saw Cassano come out the worse for wear.
