Bologna head coach Thiago Motta has voiced his displeasure of the quality of the referees in Serie A and spoke to DAZN after his team failed to defeat Monza at Brianteo on Thursday. They played out a goalless draw in Serie A action, whilst the visitors were also reduced to ten late on after Alexis Saelemaekers’ dismissal. The Rossoblù have recorded just one victory so far this season and have drawn their last three successive matches 0-0.
The 41-year-old voiced his opinions on some of the decisions made by the officials during the match and he was clearly angry at the way the game played out. Motta gave his analysis on the refereeing decisions during the game, spoke about Saelmaekers’ mistake and opponents Monza:
“We all saw that the goal should not be disallowed, too many episodes against Bologna in the early days. Today it is impossible to remain silent, we must apologize to the Bologna fans. Four decisive refereeing errors in a decisive championship are too many.”
“I don’t understand why they (referees) organize meetings to discuss mistakes when these things happen on the pitch, I don’t like it at all if the situation continues like this. Saelemaekers knows he made a mistake, he shouldn’t do what he did but he apologized.”
“Obviously I congratulate Monza and they have a great way of defending themselves. All in all the two teams on the pitch played a good game, the third team, the referee team, didn’t do well.”
