Spain secured their fourth European Championship title with a 2-1 victory over England in the Euro 2024 final. Captain Alvaro Morata, beaming with joy, described the win as “the best thing in my career.”

Morata revealed to Sky Sport the support Spain received, even from Italian fans: “Many Italians were cheering for us. Chiellini told me to lift this cup before the match, and in the end, we won.” The striker acknowledged his role in the tournament, stating, “I had to put on the builder’s clothes in this Euro. I didn’t score many goals, but I worked as if I were a fan. I believe I deserved this cup.”

The Spanish captain highlighted the team’s solidarity as the key to their success: “We were a solid group, even the young players. Sometimes I had to raise my voice a bit, but they were excellent.”

When asked about a potential return to Serie A, with Milan reportedly interested, Morata remained coy: “Now it’s time to celebrate, then I’ll go on vacation. Serie A? We’ll see.” He shared a touching moment with former teammate Chiellini, saying, “You were an example for me as a man and as a player. Last time I cheered for you, and I’m sure this time you cheered for me.”
