Monza manager Alessandro Nesta addressed the media ahead of his team’s upcoming match against Bologna, following an important draw with Inter. The goal for this home fixture is to secure their first league win of the season, which has narrowly eluded them in recent games.
Nesta began by expressing confidence in his team’s readiness: “We are ready to win, especially up front we are strong. There are players who can improve and have great potential. I hope success can come soon.” Regarding Bologna’s potential fatigue after their midweek Champions League match, Nesta saw it as “An opportunity, we must try to win without pressure. Monza is growing and getting better all the time.”
The coach also praised Bologna’s manager, Vincenzo Italiano: “I know him from the Spezia-Frosinone playoff final. He’s a strong coach who brings results.”
Describing Bologna’s playing style, Nesta said: “They play strong man-to-man, always put great pressure and play high. I don’t think it will be a beautiful game. Episodes will decide the match, on our part we must try to impose ourselves.”
Reflecting on the draw with Inter, Nesta commented: “When a big team like Inter draws, it’s seen as half a defeat, it’s viewed as a tragedy and perhaps the work of smaller teams is little emphasized.” Regarding the referee’s error, he added: “We didn’t grasp the severity of the referee’s mistake, but I have to stay calm. Everyone has attacked him, the error was serious. But he realized it.”
On player availability, Nesta provided updates: “Gagliardini, Vignato, Ciurria and Birindelli are out. Djuric missed a training session, Maldini missed half a training session but both will be there.” He also mentioned that young player Forson would soon get his chance.
When asked about the possibility of signing free agents, Nesta responded: “They ask for a lot, for now we’ll stay as we are. Then in January we’ll see.”
Finally, Nesta expressed appreciation for the fans’ support: “I feel the trust of our fans, there is great education and passion towards Monza here.”
