Monza set to appoint Alessandro Nesta as new head coach

Start

Monza are  on the verge of appointing Alessandro Nesta as their new head coach, following the departure of Raffaele Palladino to Fiorentina. The finalization of the agreement is expected in the coming hours.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Nesta, who managed Reggiana in Serie B this season, is preparing for a significant step up to Serie A with Monza. His appointment is seen as a strategic move by the club, orchestrated by Adriano Galliani and sporting director Francesco Modesto, who believe Nesta’s technical attributes align closely with those of his predecessor, Palladino.

The contract with Nesta is expected to be a one-year deal with an option for an additional year, contingent on the team securing its position in Serie A. The final details with Reggiana are being ironed out to pave the way for his official signing.

Monza had previously shown interest in Marco Baroni, who remains a strong candidate to succeed Igor Tudor at Lazio. Meanwhile, Reggiana have already initiated talks with Fabio Caserta and are considering other potential candidates to fill the managerial vacancy left by Nesta.
