Monza have decided to make a dramatic change on the bench following their crushing 5-1 defeat against Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico. Salvatore Bocchetti is reportedly on the verge of being dismissed, with Alessandro Nesta set to return as head coach of the struggling Serie A side.
This marks Monza’s third managerial change of the season. CEO Adriano Galliani has opted to bring back Nesta, who began the campaign with the club, after a string of disappointing results under Bocchetti. Currently sitting at the bottom of the Serie A table with just 13 points from 24 matches, Monza’s season has been nothing short of disastrous. Under Bocchetti’s leadership, the team managed only one win—against Fiorentina—and suffered six defeats in seven games, collecting a mere three points during his tenure.
Nesta, who had initially been replaced by Bocchetti in December, is now poised to resume his role in an effort to salvage Monza’s season. The team faces an uphill battle to avoid relegation, and Galliani hopes that Nesta’s return can provide stability and a fresh perspective as they fight for survival in Italy’s top flight.
