Despite Lazio’s recent overhaul under new manager Baroni, their strong start to the season comes as no surprise to former Juventus director Luciano Moggi.
In a recent interview with Elleradio, Moggi expressed his admiration for Lazio president Claudio Lotito and shared his belief in the team’s ability to compete at the highest level throughout the season.
“I am a fervent supporter of Lotito because he is a person with guts,” Moggi declared. He praised Lotito’s leadership, recalling how the president had to travel with a security detail for years after telling fans, “You be the supporters, and I’ll be the president.”
Moggi believes that Lazio’s current success is a direct result of Lotito’s management style. He suggested that Lazio could even be considered favorites for the upcoming match in Turin, given Juventus’ injury concerns. However, he emphasized that Lazio has the quality to compete with Juventus even at full strength.
“The team is well-constructed,” Moggi continued. “They have a president who knows how to handle transfers and keep a group united. On the field, they have the desire to win and the quality to do so.”
While Moggi was hesitant to predict how far Lazio might go this season, he expressed confidence in their ability to have a strong campaign. “I don’t know how far they’ll go, but they can have a good season,” he concluded.
