Inter midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan explained that he wants to remain with the club, but it’s up to the Nerazzurri if they want to renew his contract. The Armenian international was speaking with Sky Sport Italia ahead of the Champions League match with RB Salzburg tomorrow, and explained why the team are treating every match as an important one, regardless of the competition:
“Championship or cup for us doesn’t change, every game is important. We hope to do well tomorrow, as we did against Benfica, and we hope to continue on our path.”
“Serie A? Let’s not look at the classification now, the championship is very long. This is the Champions League, not the championship and we are more charged up than ever. Tomorrow we’ll do everything to win it’.
“I feel good in Milan and also at Inter, I am doing my best to help the team and my teammates. As far as the renewal is concerned, my agent will take care of it, but my desire is to stay”.
“Before coming to Inter I said I would come to help the team improve, its the coach’s choice whether to play me from the start or as a substitute. As a winger I’m doing everything I can to help the team both defensively and offensively”.
“Salzburg is a strong team. We’re playing at home and we want to win in front of our fans, thinking about the game against Roma is still too early.”
“The weekend ? It was not easy to play against Torino, in the first half we struggled a bit, then in the second we forced what we wanted to do and we were rewarded: we won the game by scoring three goals. It was very important to win, to have a good mood in the locker room and prepare for tomorrow’s game. We just want to improve, to be better and stronger, we have goals we are fighting for as a team and we are doing everything to win the decisive games.
“A decisive game in Salzburg ? We have to think about tomorrow’s one, we’ll have time to focus on the return leg. We don’t want to get too far ahead, we’ll see how we play tomorrow then we’ll think about the next one”.
“The change of role? If it has lengthened my career, you can say so, in my opinion I still have a little left and I want to do my best playing and have fun before I stop.
“The two-year renewal? For me the important thing is to play and train, the rest depends on the club.”
