Inter Milan midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan addressed the media ahead of the Supercoppa Italiana semifinal against Atalanta, expressing his commitment to the team’s success and his personal growth as a player.
Looking forward to the upcoming match, Mkhitaryan emphasized its importance: “Obviously, tomorrow’s game will be very important. We know Atalanta has been playing very well lately. We will try to play our best to win. It’s very important for us to continue winning, starting with the Supercoppa. We will do our best.”
When reminded of Inter’s 4-0 victory over Atalanta earlier in the season, Mkhitaryan cautioned against complacency: “We’re talking about a game played four months ago; both teams have changed since then. They’ve won many games in a row, and so have we. We’re demonstrating a very high level, like last season. We expect a difficult match, but we hope to play as we know how to play.”
Addressing the competition for playing time with teammate Davide Frattesi, Mkhitaryan praised his colleague: “He’s a great player and a great teammate, both as a footballer and as a person. I can only tell him to continue working hard. He has the quality to play for a team like Inter. He shouldn’t give up; he’s on the right path and will have his chances to play.”
Mkhitaryan also reflected on his return to top form: “Yes, at the beginning of the season I wasn’t at my best, but as the games went by, I returned to my levels. The competition from Frattesi and Zielinski has helped me a lot; they push me to improve. I shouldn’t think about age. I thank them because every day, both in training and in matches, they lead me to show my qualities and earn my place.”
When asked about the possibility of a future move to Saudi Arabia, Mkhitaryan remained focused on his current commitments: “I’m following it, but not too closely. There are many of my former teammates and friends playing there. I have a contract with Inter, and we’ll see what happens at the end of the season, but I’m happy playing for Inter.”
As Inter Milan prepares for their third appearance in Riyadh, Mkhitaryan expressed hope for continued success: “Yes, it’s the third time we’re playing here in Riyadh. We’ve won the previous two, and we hope to repeat that. We know Atalanta’s strength, and I hope the fans will help us feel at home and win.”
