Milito: ‘It hasn’t been a bad season for Inter’

Start

Former Inter striker Diego Milito doesn’t believe it’s been a bad season for the Nerazzurri: ‘The positives for Napoli’s season are not negatives for other teams’. The Argentine was speaking with il Corriere dello Sport (as quoted by FCInter1908) about Inter’s season to date and explained why he doesn’t believe it should be written off so quickly, despite some poor results in Serie A, and also touched on the success of his former coach Jose Mourinho who won the Conference League last season:

“Second in the standings, in the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia, playing the Champions League quarter-finals: Inter’s season is not to be thrown away. Of course, Inter must always aim to win. But in Serie A the positives of Napoli are more than the negatives of other teams. Inter have left a few points on their travels, and maybe they shouldn’t have. But I don’t think it was a bad season at all’.”

“The Champions League? I wouldn’t set myself any limits, the Champions League is always tough and now there’s the toughest part with the away leg. But I would say: ‘Inter, no limits.’ After Porto, with a quarter-final, anything can happen.”

“Lautaro? The numbers speak for him: an excellent season. After the World Cup he felt an incredible charge and he transmitted it to the others, he became more of a leader, you can see that he has weight in the team.

“Mourinho? Last year he won a trophy, didn’t he? Now, he’s near the top of the table and I think he’s been doing very well.

“Jose is always there fighting until the end and Roma have become a dangerous team thanks to him. They’re very good at replicating his attitude on the pitch.”
