Milik: ‘Juventus wanted me since I was at Napoli’

Start

On-loan Juventus striker Arek Milik believes there are differences between Italian and French football and revealed that Juve have been after him since his time at Napoli. The Polish international has been one the Bianconeri’s best players this season, and speaking to L’Equipe, he explained that his ability to understand the coach fluently has played a part in his settling in:

I speak Italian well and this is an important advantage. I have no problem understanding the coach and all the instructions he gives me.

In Italy there is much more tactics, both in training and in the match. In France, on the other hand, there are many more spaces for quick players, or wingers who run a lot.

At Marseille I did well, but I could do much better and I know that. Sometimes, however, to do better, especially with my characteristics, you need good people around you, who also play for you.

The contacts for my transfer (to Juventus) started before the match against Nantes, in which I remained on the bench.

Juventus had been chasing me since I was at Napoli, but at the time it wasn’t possible to find a match. We’re happy to have found each other again today.

In almost all the games I played in Turin I had another striker on my side, I think this way it’s easier because you have more solutions.
