Tijjani Reijnders, the Dutch midfielder who joined AC Milan in the summer of 2023, has become an increasingly central figure for the club despite a challenging start to the season. This was recently confirmed by the player’s father, Martin Reijnders, who shared some insights on LinkedIn:
“What a week for Tijjani! An unjustified red card against Udinese! Yesterday, Player of the Match with 2 goals against Club Brugge, and as the cherry on top, we are in negotiations with Milan for a new contract! This is how quickly things can move in football!”
According to reports from Telegraaf, AC Milan is keen on securing Reijnders’ future beyond 2028, which is currently his contract’s expiration date. While there’s no particular urgency, it’s clear that a player of Reijnders’ caliber could easily attract interest from European powerhouses like Barcelona or Manchester City. The new target for the Rossoneri management appears to be 2030, with a willingness to potentially double his current salary of 1.6 million euros per year.
Eliano Reijnders, Tijjani’s brother who plays for PEC Zwolle, also spoke to Telegraaf about the situation:
“It’s not often that a club wants to discuss a new contract after just one year, so it’s something special. It will give him even more confidence because the club considers him a great player. Just look at the smile he plays football with. He gives everything, but he’s already able to enjoy himself during matches. That’s to his credit. Tijjani is also very popular with the team, who have taken care of him from the beginning. This was important because from AZ he ended up among superstars like Theo Hernandez, Rafael Leao, and then Olivier Giroud.”
